Tolerance

“Tolerance of Ambiguity“ High values on this factor mean that a person is capable to tolerate the behavior and values of other people without compromising his or her own values. Low values mean that a person feels very uncomfortable if confronted with other persons’ different values and ways of life. Those persons might come along with a more traditional view of things, but most important is the own perspective and experience as influenced by family, society and own conviction. Deviation from what is conceived as “normal” is perceived as threatening or at least discomforting. /one of the criteria from EU programme Erasmus survey/ Do you think you have high or low level of tolerance? I liked this definition, because high level of tolerance here does not mean you take over the values and attach to yourself, rather - it is knowing who you are and accepting people as they are. This is something that is so much lacking in our post-Soviet territory - the simple acceptance to see another human in another person. We want to meet an angel, but US, even the Christians, we never look at ourselves as that "another human" with the human incapacities. And ironically - statistically - the most intolerant group in judging people are... Christians.. hmm.. which Spirit posesses us? Thoughts of the day...
